  • Addiction Research Foundation
    The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health is a public hospital providing direct patient care for people with mental health and addiction problems. The Centre is also a research facility, an education and training institute and a community based organization providing health promotion and prevention services across the province.
     
  • Alcoholics Anonymous
    Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism.   • Canadian Centre on Substance Abuse
    A non-profit organization working to minimize the harm associated with the use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs.
     
  • National Counsel on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence
    An organizational overview and a look back at efforts to reduce stigma and to educate that alcoholism and other drug addictions are preventable and treatable.
     
  • National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism supports and conducts biomedical andbehavioral research on the causes, consequences, treatment, and prevention of alcoholism and alcohol-related problems. NIAAA also provides leadership in the national effort to reduce the severe and often fatal consequences of these problems.
     
  • Canadian Foundation on Compulsive Gambling

  • Gam-Anon Org
    The self-help organization of Gam-Anon is a life saving instrument for the spouse, family or close friends of compulsive gamblers.
     
  • Gamblers Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from a gambling problem. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop gambling.
     
  • Al Anon and Alateen
    For over 50 years Al-Anon has offered help to families and friends of alcoholics. Alateen offers assistance for younger people. This organization is separate and distinct from Alcoholics Anonymous.
     
  • Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH)

  • Drug and Alcohol Registry of Treatment (DART)
    DART is a link to Ontario’s drug and alcohol treatment system.1-800-565-8603. 
     
  • Narcotics Anonymous
    Narcotics Anonymous is an international, community-based association of recovering drug addicts that facilitates weekly meetings in over 100 countries worldwide. Local Canadian meetings can be referenced by area on this website.
     
  • Responsible Gambling Council (Ontario)
    Responsible Gambling Council is an Ontario based organization helping individuals and communities address gambling issues through information, awareness/prevention, professional development and research.
     
  • Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers
    Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers is a US based organization of attorneys and judges dedicated to assisting those in the legal profession who suffer due to various causes, including but not limited to alcohol and/or chemical addiction.
     
  • The Illinois Institute for Addiction Recovery
    This site has a section on Internet addiction as well as additional information about how to access treatment services, interventions, and free in-person assessments.
     
  • The Center for Internet Studies

  • Bellwood Health Centre
    Provides treatment for individuals, from across Canada and the United States, who have alcohol and drug addictions, eating disorders, and stress related illnesses.
     
  • Lawerslink.org
    A confidential, professional counselling service, for all members and student members of the Law Society of Upper Canada experiencing personal distress.
     
  • Ontario's Drug and Alcohol Registry of Treatment
    A province-wide information and referral service, funded by the Ontario Substance Abuse Bureau of the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, and available to professionals and members of the general public, including substance abusers and their family/friends.

    This centre treats alcoholism and drug addiction, delivering superior outcomes to Canadians through its Complete Care approach. Renascent offers immediate access to gender-specific 12-step facilitated treatment and supports family and workplace wellness.
     
  • Bellwood Total Health Centre
    (1-800-387-6198) This centre provides residential treatment for individuals with chemical dependencies, eating disorders, gambling and other compulsive disorders, and stress-related illnesses. 
     
  • Del Amo Hospital
    This private psychiatric hospital is located in Southern California. It provides a wide-range of individually tailored programs such as crisis stabilization, trauma-based disorders, borderline personality disorders, eating disorders, sexual addictions, detox and mental illness.
     
  • Homewood Health Centre
    (519-824-1010) This centre provides a range of programs dealing with mental health and addictions.
     
  • Hazelden
    (1-800-257-7810) This site is dedicated to helping people recover from alcoholism and other drug addictions and is a premier publisher of information on the topic. Many resources are available through this website.
     
  • Newgate 180
    (1-888-524-8333) Newgate 180 is a leading addiction treatment centre, with no waiting lists; a centre of excellence in the residential treatment of alcohol, drug and gambling addiction; privately located on the banks of the Rideau River in Merrickville Ontario.
     
  • KeyStone Center Extended Care Unit
    The KeyStone Center is located in Philadelphia and has a 14-bed residential program facility for issues surrounding sexual compulsivity and trauma. The extended care unit treats multiple addictions including gambling based on a twelve-step program.

  • Mood Disorders Society of Canada
    Connects you with mental health and mental illness resources across Canada and with their National Strategy for a Canadian Mental Health Coalition.
     
  • Lawyers With Depression
    Created specifically as a resource for lawyers living with depression, this site includes extensive information on the subject of depression.
     
  • Check-Up from the Neck Up
    This online self-assessment tool addresses mental health issues such as depression, anxiety and bipolar disorders. It provides a good first step to find out if you need help.
     
  • Emotions Anonymous
    This program is built on a twelve-step program, similar to Alcoholics Anonymous. It facilitates weekly meetings for the purpose of working toward recovery from emotional difficulties.
     
  • The Great-West Life Centre for Mental Health in the Workplace
    The Great West–Life Assurance Company has created The Great-West Life Centre for Mental Health in the Workplace, a freely available online public resource providing knowledge on mental health issues affecting the workplace and practical strategies and tools for employers.
     
  • Lawyers With Depression
    Created specifically as a resource for lawyers living with depression. Includes extensive information on the subject of depression.
     
  • Suicide Information and Education Centres
    SIEC is a resource centre of research information, publications and educational products, arguably the best suicide prevention resource in the world. SIEC has more online information available about suicide prevention and bereavement counselling programs.
     
  • Canadian Association for Suicide Prevention
    CASP can connect you with suicide prevention facilities and resources across Canada.
     
  • American Association of Suicidology

  • Dr. Bodnar
    Dr. Ana Bodnar teaches in the Graduate Counselling Program the University of Toronto, and is a clinical consultant at CAMH. Dr. Bodnar's meditation CD, "Embracing Peace: Guided Meditations for Joy and Tranquility" has been used by many meditation practitioners in their meditation practice, and by those wishing to diminish their stress.
